Navy special ops sharpens enemy vessel seizure skills
Philippine Navy had posted in their official Facebook page photos of their Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure Exercise as part of Balikatan.
Photos showed are insertion of Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG) Team aboard a PN Del Pilar Class Frigate. One using the new AW109E naval helicopter as part of Balikatan 2014.
Visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) is the term used by the military and law enforcement agencies for maritime boarding actions and tactics, designed to capture enemy vessels, to combat terrorism, piracy and smuggling, and to conduct customs, safety and other inspections, as employed by modern navies, marine and maritime services, military and police forces.
