AFP ready to defend the country against China

“The exercises emphasized that as friends and allies, the Philippines and the United States will act in our collective capacity to safeguard international peace and security, and to ensure that territorial integrity and sovereignty are respected,” Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Emmanuel Bautista said during the Balikatan 2014 closing rites in Camp Aguinaldo.

Bautista also said through the just concluded Balikatan exercise “Philippines and the United States jointly developed a platform for regional engagement, enhanced our military capabilities, learned from each other and advanced interoperability and capacity in joint planning execution.”

On a different occasion Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma, Friday, May 16 said that though government is taking the diplomatic process in solving dispute with China, AFP is ready to defend our country. When asked if what preparations the military is doing, he said it is better not to talk about it.

China, according to state owned tabloid Global Times, may resort to non-peaceful manner if provoked by Philippines or Vietnam.
