Filipino netizens boycott China-made goods amid West PH sea tension

Amid tension between China and Philippines, which heated up during the past week after arrest of eleven Chinese fishermen, Filipino netizens have expressed their call in joining them to boycott Chinese products.

Filipino netizens said that even there is no official call from the government to boycott Chinese goods they took the initiative to start eliminating China produced goods in their shopping lists. One netizen said, “I started to check where the item [is] made from before I buy and throw it back when [it's] made in China,” aside from it is made in China it can only sustain few usage.

Boycott China made goods

However, Philippine government do not support the call for product boycott. According to some commentators product boycott of all Chinese made is not a good idea for now, not until Philippines is econmically healthy and inclusive-growth is felt by everyone, because almost 60 percent of Philippine economy depends from Chinese products and investors. What we can do now is to start in becoming economically free from China by boycotting counterfeit products from China, consider products produced by other countries [though it may be more costly], and patronize Philippine products.

Yung nag sabi na “product boycott of all Chinese made is not a good idea for now, not until Philippines is econmically healthy and inclusive-growth is felt by everyone, because almost 60 percent of Philippine economy depends from Chinese products and investors” eh t@ng@… if you think about if if we keep buying Filipino made products it will bring them income, increase their product line, diversify their business and hire more Filipinos. Kung wala man made in the Philippines na alternative buying from another country will only cause them to increase investments here if they see potential growth. Diversifying your industries as well as investors will only help in making our economy stronger. I agree at this point if China pulls out their investments it will have a big effect on PHL economy but we need to start somewhere and we need to start now.

Then when are we going to boycott them? When they already owns 1/4 of our country? Idiots!

China is more dependent on the countries which they export to. China is dumping cheap goods in the Philippines, without those exports China’s economy will dwindle. It’s not too late to change our import policies as well as market preference. If we act now we can stop those cheap goods from flowing into our country and help a lot of Filipino manufacturers in effect

Nung mahirap pa ang china hindi naman sila ganyan na nangbubully at tahimik lang sila. But now they are so arrogant and war-like. Words like indisputable sovereignty, relevant country and high defense spending makes everyone mad at these Chinks. An economic boycott of western countries is needed to shake the hell out of this arrogant and stubborn nation.

CONSUMERS GOODS MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES CAN BE EASILY MONITORED BY BFAD IF THE PRODUCT IS UNFIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCES, TOYS, CLOTHES MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES ARE DURABLE.

We can’t prevent the China products frm coming into our country. We are a member of WTO, APEC and signatory to GATT. We can gradually reduce our dependency to China by patronizing our available local products especially to the businesses that chose to use made in China.
