Two AgustaWestland 109E deployed to Alacaraz, del Pilar protect West PH Sea
Two AgustaWestland 109E Power recently acquired by the Armed Forces of the Philippines for Philippine Navy were deployed to their first mission, protect the country’s territorial sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.
These AW109 helicopters will be incorporated to BRP Gregorio del Pilar and BRP Ramon Alcaraz each. The pilots of PNH431 are Navy Lieutenant Commanders Herbert June Dang-Awan and Leo Penacerada, while PNH432 is piloted by Navy Lieutenant Commanders Rowene Colita and Ariel Joseph Coloma.
“The helicopters will support the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ operations to help protect the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty by complementing its naval operating assets in the area,” Philippine Fleet Public Affairs LTJG. Rommel Rodriguez said.
“The pilots and crew have undergone rigorous training to meet an optimal condition of readiness for the air assets and are ready to undertake their mandated missions,” Rodriguez added.
