US nuclear-powered submarine coming to Subic

USS Chicago (SSN 721), a nuclear-powered fast attack Los Angeles-class submarine, will be arriving in Subic Bay tomorrow Friday, May 9, 2014 for a port call. The said submarine will be replenishing supplies and its crew will be given time for rest and relaxation.

USS Chicago lead by Commander Lance Thompson is based at Apra Harbor, Guam and a member of US Navy Pacific Fleet. Chicago is 362 feet long weighing 6162 tons when full has a speed of 20 knots either submerged or surfaced. It has 12 officers and 98 crews. It is designed for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare, strike, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

The said submarine was featured in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mission “The Only Easy Day… Was Yesterday” deploying elements of Task Force 141.
